New UGC App

New UGC App: Accepting Various Types of Content

You may have seen last years blog on how to accept photos and text-only submissions with a Video Contest. Well, things have changed a little in your dashboard and now it’s easier than ever to create a UGC contest that accepts Photos, Video URLs, text and even other file types!

Upon launching the UGC app, the option to accept photos and text was removed from the Video Contest app, so you will no longer find these settings there. Now all you have to do is create a UGC contest and choose the types of content you will accept:

The File Upload button is meant for photos, but it will actually accept many file types such as documents, PDFs, even MP3s (only JPGs, GIFs, PNGs, and JPEGs will display in the gallery along with videos entered with an accepted platform’s URL). Accepted video platforms are; YouTube, Instagram, Vine, Vimeo, and Twitch. Just like the Photo and Video contests, your UGC contest can accept hashtag entries from Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook as well as accepting direct entries in the Form Fields section. Enabling entry methods will still take place on the Edit screen, but accepted video platforms are set in the form field itself:

A UGC Contest is great way to showcase your fans’ creativity and allows them to submit content in the medium they prefer to work with. You could host an art contest, logo design contest, short-story or caption contest, short-film competition, or combine them all with one app!
