Woobox Case Study: Glee Gum
When Glee Gum, an all-natural chewing gum brand, wanted to get the word out about their newest flavor, they turned to Woobox for help. What resulted was a campaign so effective, they had to end it early.
About Glee Gum:
Glee Gum is natural chewing gum made without preservatives, artificial flavorings, colorings, or sweeteners (no aspartame). Glee Gum launched a new flavor, Wild Watermelon, and was looking for a means to introduce it to their social media community and to give their fans a chance to try it for free.
Glee Gum set up a Woobox Sweepstakes customized as a free sample giveaway. They uploaded a custom graph for the “entry page” and “post-entry” page, and the default setting for the “pre-start” and “ended” page. Below the custom graphic on the entry page, they included form fields for prize fulfillment, including name, address and email – with an opt-in field to join their Gleeful news email list. By activating the fangate pre-entry, they ensured entrants had to be fans of their page in order to receive a free sample, and only allowed for one free sample per fan.
How they got the word out:
Glee Gum posted the promotion once on their Facebook timeline and once on Twitter. They were in the process of creating a dedicated Facebook ad campaign, but the contest maxed out before the first ad had run for more than a minute or two.
They had originally planned to give away up to 2,000 free samples between October 8th and December 31st. However, they received over 6,800 sample requests in the first HOUR and chose to end the promotion early. The company acquired over 5,000 new email address and over 6,100 new likes on their Facebook page. Over 2,800 fans shared the page on their own timeline.
